aaaaachoo!!

One more day to go and then ... it's the weekend!! Oh wait, that's not it. One more day to go and then the Kiddo's lower body is finally FREE. He is over the moon excited, I am nervous. I'll be doing this doctor trip myself (the Man has to work) and I've read a bit about spica cast recoveries, they aren't fun, and can take awhile longer then "normal". I think the Kiddo is motivated enough to work hard to get his muscles back into shape though so we're staying positive and waiting to see how it goes.

That is the good news. The bad news is that the Kiddo has a cold. It was bound to happen, after all for the last two months he's been sleeping with the window directly above his pillow open a bit. That is eight weeks of cold winter air blowing on his head.

Of course if my mom had suggested this sooner he might not be sick...

This is why the Kiddo loves his grannie so much, she thinks outside the box and comes up with crazy fun ideas. He was SO excited to get to wear a beenie to sleep, and it was still on his head the next morning (albeit a little skewed).

You know, excitement can be a kind of stress, and if it is multiplied by the frustration of his body not working the way he imagines it will when the cast comes off, he may not handle it without help. You might want to be observant for signs that he needs an extra dose of med tomorrow afternoon.

I'm deriving that from my experience when I was scheduled to get my braces off, and had a reaction to the allergy shot I got before heading over to the dentist. Never had a reaction to any of the other shots, but was enough excited about the braces removal that it happened that day (and the braces had to be rescheduled).

By the way, that's not outside the box ... it's just being old enough to know that folks used to wear nightcaps to keep their heads warm. That's what the poem was talking about:
"The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap."

C you're right!! I'm so glad you "get it" enough to think of that, it slipped my mind. I will make sure I have extra snacks (sugar levels) and double dose him in the morning (just in case because it can't hurt any) as well as having extra meds on hand. Thank you.
