On the road again...

Well folks the day is finally here. In a couple hours the Kiddo and I will be on our way to the airport for our trip to Arizona. I'm very very excited. Posting will be light while I'm there, though I promise to try to get something done every couple of days at least.

To tide you over I leave you with a great example of the things the kiddo teaches himself to do. Honest to goodness we did NOT teach him this song!

first things first

Question: What's the first thing the Kiddo did this morning? (even before going to the potty)

Answer: He put on THESE (Police Car shoes!) The Man thought they were the coolest thing since pajamas, and the kid needed new shoes sooo we bought them. The Kiddo absolutely loves them and wont take them off for anything. The little white headlights and the lightbar Velcro strap both light up when he walks. As you can imagine this leads to a ton of stomping around and walking into things. Yep, THAT was a good idea... ...

Monday updates

It's getting close. I've got under three days before I'm on a plane with the Kiddo flying south. I'm excited and nervous and excited and nervous... yeah my multiple personalities are throwing fits.

I just had coffee and donut holes for breakfast. Because the Man is wonderful. Or he was bribing me, one of those.

My hair is blue, did I mention that? It isn't the first time in my life I've put blue in it. The dye the wonderful (read that dripping with sarcasm) stylist suggested because it "stays longer" .. .. uh I think she's full of beans! It's only been done a week and I've got to redo it again. I'll leave it in longer this time and put in a glaze to help it keep. I'm still adjusting to the cut but I can tell you right now I don't hate it, I either love it (the blue helps, how can you not love it with blue?) or I'm ambivalent about it.

I just finished reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer (she's the one who wrote the twilight books, and yes I read them too, though I didn't go all crazy about them like half the under 25 female population of the world has). All of this to say that I really really really want the Kindle 2. It's rediculously expensive, and I'll probably never actually get it (they don't have a lotto in Utah you know) but oh how I'd love one. I love to read, I read fast (um finished The Host in a day, it's only 620 pages long but still)... I want something I can carry around, something that will remember my page so when I have to get up and move quickly to avert a Kiddo disaster I don't have to spend 10 minutes finding my page. I want to be able to read a new book whenever I get the urge. *sigh* Yeah, I lust after the thing a bit...

Oh and for those of you who are wondering. I killed, in a good way, the typing test thing last Thursday. I type a decent 77 words per minute, so their alphanumeric test (while in field format vs paragraph) was still pretty easy for me to do. And since I spent so much time working on the 10 key pad I actually did fairly well on that one too. 30 wpm. Still they are only hiring for 6am or 6:30am shifts, my would be ride doesn't go in that early and daycares don't open until 6:30 anyway. I can't very well be dropping the kiddo off at daycare AND clocking in at work at the same time. The very nice woman promised they'd be giving me a call if they get to a point where they can be more flexable with their start times. *sigh* :(

sweet!

No, I'm not talking about food. .. .. I'm always saying we need a second car, boy life would be easier, seriously... for starters I'd be exponentially more employably. Though I shudder at the thought of two cars to insure and fuel.

Still there's always the option of something that doesn't run on fuel. Like for instance the Aptera 2e. Shockingly, to me, it looks like the thing might actually be somewhat reasonably priced. I honest to goodness would actually buy and drive one (in black) IF there was a backseat for the Kiddo's car seat... which there isn't so I suppose it's a moot point. Still, it's a fun thought.

bittersweet... and funny

The kiddo wants a sister* I want a second kiddo. The Man just wants everybody to shut up already.. but he's like that so we ignore him.

The background for the story is something like this... (I think I may have mentioned it but will go ahead and be obnoxious and mention it again)... In December we asked the kiddo what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas. His answer was gooey and made me snuggle him. He said, several times, on several different occasions, that he wanted a house and a little sister. Of course when he sat on Santa's lap he got lockjaw and said something silly so didn't get either (HA kid teach you, next time try not to be so awed by the big white beard and shiny buttons).

Yesterday the Man and the Kiddo took me over to do my typing test and mini job interview. It's at the same place the Man works so while I was pecking away at the keys cursing my lack of finger dexterity the Man was parading the Kiddo around like the amazingly cute chick magnet he is. I gather that these people hear so many stories they demanded to meet the staring character when they heard he was going to be available for autographs.

The point of all this is that once I was done with my test etc. there was a little bs'ing going on, flirting on the Kiddo's part and chatting on mine and the Mans. Somewhere in the middle of all that the Kiddo told everybody that he had a little sister, I can't really remember how it even came up. A "tiny little sister" (said with fingers placed very nearly touching). We said no honey you don't have a little sister, and he, very seriously, said "but, yes I do, and she's tiny.. we have to go find her".

A few minutes of general bs'ing later we're ready to head out the door. We ask the Kiddo to say goodbye to his friends so we can go. He waves and says ...

"I have to go to work, so I can buy my little sister"

How much does a little sister cost you ask... well from some of the research I've done about 15k. Methinks the kiddo will be working for awhile *grin*

*Disclaimer: I swear it isn't my fault he wants a little sister. It's sesame street and/or his little foot movies.

I've fallen...

and I can't get up!

Okay so maybe I can get up, I just don't WANT to. Things have been a little slow around here lately, usually I post at least once a day and I don't think I've posted anything new in about four days. Guilty *sheepish smile* So what's been going on you ask..

1. I've been working like a dog on my typing skills. Which, if I do say so myself, are not all that shabby. The problem is more my accuracy then speed. I'm at a solid 77 wpm, but only 98% accuracy, give or take. That's because my fingers work faster then my brain... er um... my brain works faster then my fingers? Anyway the typing test/interview for the job I really would love to get is this Thursday and I'm running through the alphanumeric and 10 key drill twice daily (which kinda burns me out on typing if you know what I mean).

2. I'm prepping for a wonderful glorious amazing trip to AZ in a week and I'm trying to get everything organized here so that I'll have a home to come back too vs a smoking hole in the ground. Not that I don't think the Man can handle it... sure he can... yeah... he might starve to death and then freeze when the power got shut off but he'd handle it...

3. I've been wrestling with the focus on my camera. I think I was using the manual zoom so much it messed with it's ability to auto zoom. Teach me to go playing photographer. Anyway I'm going to use that as my excuse for not keeping up with HS/MS/HS daily prompts. I'mma get back to that asap though, I miss doing it.

4. I'm running out of excuses for not having written anything in here. Lessee I should at least add that I cut my hair (which you knew) and then dyed it (which you didn't). Yes folks, that may be all the warning you're going to get before you see my glorious blu.. er um differently colored hair. Though I may be persuaded to put up a photo...

That all being said (and feeling as though I've rambled enough)... The Kiddo is great, his imagination is bigger then then universe. Last night he had to get out of bed and go see the Man so he could tell him that his voice was broken. Then the Man had to "talk him down" till he stopped worrying about it and would just go back to bed.

As an end note, speaking of imaginations, here's a funny picture or two of the Kiddo. He's using his flashlight as his rocket engine, which makes sense if you think that engines turn all fiery and glowing when they're blasting off.

A sneak peak

I chopped all my hair off. It's the shortest I've ever gone and I had to do a serious gut check when the stylist hit the point of no return.

I was going for an Audry Hepburn look. (I adore her and think she looked gorgeous with short hair).

I'm the one in the black and white (in case you couldn't tell hehe) and I don't think it's looks all to bad, but it will take me awhile to get used to. The Kiddo told me I looked "scary" and "like Grannie". I can only hope he means my mom grannie and not the Mans mom (grandma). The Man says he has to "get used to it" before he'll tell me if he likes it or not.

What do you all think?

Thursday Photo Prompt

The days just fly by don't they?

Todays photo prompt word over at HS/MS/HS is Belt: Encircling strip of cloth, leather etc worn around the waist.

I love belts, I have sash belts, and leather belts and metal belts... but my favorite belt out of all of them is the belt that goes to my silk kimono robe*

**That's the symbol for wind and yes, Ph, I know it's upside down..

Wednesday Photo Prompt

Radiate: A give light or heat in the form of rays.

I have a plan for this prompt, but I didn't want to lose the light (or lack there-of) while I waited to see if I could turn a photo of dust motes dancing in the sunlight into something artsy (considering my piece of crap camera). Anyway this does give light in the form of rays, multi colored ones that flash from the base up through the crystal block. It was a gift from the Man a few years ago when he got back from his trip to Kosovo. I Love you too Darlin ;)

If I do end up with a decent photo of the motes, I'll add it to the bottom of this post.

aaaw

I think he's excited... Or maybe that's just me. Still he's darn cute and worth watching ;)

itty bitty bits... otherwise known as Trinkets

Trinket: A small or worthless ornament, often with sentimental value... I love the photo prompt for today at HS/MS/HS (and there are some really good photo's to go with it).
I have a cup sitting on my dresser. In it I have a dozen little trinkets, things that make me happy and hold warm and fuzzy memories for me. When I get to feeling too stressed out, or frusterated, or cranky, I go to the cup and pull out the bits and let them lead me back to my happy place. Sometimes it helps to have physical reminders of the good things in your life.
My dog tags (I freely admit to photo shopping, can't be having the ssn out there for the world to see). Two little ducks, crystal angel earrings, a couple worry rocks, a blue tassel from a gift the Man gave me once, blue ribbon with little gadgets from the baby shower for my son, my knife *grin*, and a tiny bear that my grandma gave me.

Hypnotizing a dog

I laughed so hard I cried, then I watched it over and over... it's like a train wreck, an evil bad horrible train wreck that makes you giggle.

click the picture to follow the link and see the video... it's worth it.

h/t Jen over at Cake Wrecks (who btw did a post the other day with an extraordinarily adorable Darth Vader baby shower cake).

Monday Photo Prompt

Todays photo prompt is Orange: A bright, warm color produced from mixing red and yellow paint.
I wish, in a way, that this prompt had come in the fall. There is nothing quite so spectacular as the leaves changing in the Wasatch Mountain Canyons. Still I've got some fabric leaves that will do, bright orange and festive looking they are most definitely the first thing I think of as Orange.
Then again about the bright orange flowers on my hummingbird fridge magnet?

Sunday S.O.S. Catch Up

Yet another catch up post. I am going to skip the Saturday S.P.S for last week because I didn't get a photo for it (the challenge for the shot was to focus on something that wasn't the face.. I'll be giving it a go sometime but don't want to hold up the posting for it).

I will however do the Sunday S.O.S. (because I just so happen to have taken some really neat, if I do say so myself, shots of the snowy trees at nigh). I have no tripod so I got creative and used the trees themselves to hold the camera steady for the shots.
I think it's so neat how the sky turns purple at night when it's snowing, it makes for some really odd colors in a low light no flash photo though.
Many of the pictures I took have the bizarre otherworldly purple "mid-day" looking sky.

Photo Prompt Catch up...

I'm doing a little catch up here... I thought to long about my Friday prompt and then got to busy to actually get the photo posted. Then the weekend happened and bam here we are at Monday again.

Fridays photo prompt was Three: The cardinal number that is the sum of two and one and a prime number.

There are about a dozen toys of the Kiddo's that come in threes. But I thought his plane made a pretty neat photo so used that.
and... how old is the kiddo? Three years old!.. for another three weeks anyway *chuckle*

Ugh

I can't believe we lost!! I mean I can, and it was a good game (one of the better superbowls I've seen) BUT the cards let them have two touchdowns that really I think they could have stopped. I mean seriously guys, yeesh!!

I maintain though, if we're gonna lose at least we gave them a good fight there at the end and we kept it a game worth watching. Maybe (doubtfully) AZ will get a little respect now!!

Woot

Superbowl weekend, Superbowl Sunday. Not that we've been partying or anything but it's still my excuse for no posting in the past three days. I'll try and catch up with my daily photo's tonight and start posting more regularly again tomorrow.

Till then: Go Cards!!!
