Dreams and Perspective

Adults and kids see things differently, this is something that is made apparent to me several times a day through things the kid says and does.

The other evening we sat down and watched Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The man wasn’t feeling well so he went to bed halfway through. The kiddo wasn’t feeling well either so he crawled into my lap and half slept through it. We finished the movie and then I put him to bed and went to bed myself. That night I had a crazy dream…

It started out as a really great dream. The Man, myself and the Kiddo were in the woods (I don’t know where) and a door to Narnia opened in front of us. I thought instantly how very cool it was going to be to live there, so beautiful and simple.

As we all started walking through the doorway I had the realization that we couldn’t live there because if we did I would have no way of getting the Kiddo his medications. The doorway was fading and I struggled to get the Man and the Kiddo to understand WHY we had to go back quickly enough that we could still make it.

Yesterday the Kiddo and I were hanging out and I told him about the dream. He said it sounded like a really great dream and he would love to go to Narnia. I told him that we couldn’t get his medicines in Narnia so we would just have to stay here. He rolled his eyes at me and said “mom, they have magic in Narnia, I wouldn’t NEED my medicines because they could just make me not need them anymore.” Somehow I didn’t even think of the magic, silly me…

dvd's and dreams

Me - Good morning kiddo how was your night.

Kiddo - I'm okay, I'm SO glad we have dvd players in our brains.

Me - We have dvd players in our brains?

Kiddo - Well yeah, of course we do, it's how we dream silly!!

Me - OH! duh me I should have known, so did you have good dreams?

Kiddo - Yeah, I dreamed about Santa and the three things I told him about.

..................................................

Oh and completely random. I got a phone call just now, the girl on the other end asked to speak to The Kiddo. I said "um he's five" and she busted up laughing embarrassed, apparently there's a package in the front office for him and she's new enough down there she didn't recognize his name (the other girl knows him on sight).

I had a bad dream

The Kiddo came into our room this morning with giant sad eyes and tiny sniffles, he was calling for his dad but climbed into my side of the bed. I blearily looked at the clock and saw 7am, generally I get till 7:30 nowadays and I really like that last 30 minutes, so I ignored the patheticness that was him and demanded to know what he was doing out of HIS bed before 8.

Him: well I had a bad dream and needed to see dad but he’s in the bathroom.

Me: you had a bad dream? about what?

Him: it was a peanut butter sandwich and you wouldn’t let me make it. I really wanted to eat it, I cried.

Me (thinking)…. what? a peanut butter sandwich? He’s hungry? it’s 7!!! Oh for crying out loud.

Me: It was just a dream baby, c’mon in next to mommy and see if you can go back to sleep.

…………………………………………………………………………………..

Thirty minutes later, after we were officially up and I’d chugged half a cup of coffee, I asked him again what his dream was about. He confirmed that in his dream he wanted to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but I wouldn’t let him. He was SO hungry and it would have been so yummy but I kept saying no, and that it made him cry.

So when breakfast time rolled around I decided I better make up for the mean evil dream mommy that I apparently am, and I let the kid have a sandwich AND “kid coffee” (chocolate milk), with marshmallows on the side. His absolute favorite meal.

aaachoo

Wednesdays are the worst day of the week for me. The lawn care guys (apartment complex) mow the lawn at 7:30am, which means lawn clippings and, now that it's cool enough to leave the windows open, allergies. I swear it would almost be worth the electric bill not to have the hour long sneezing fits.

Today was worse then usual though because the Kiddo gave me his cold (and I quote: "I'm sorry I shared my cold with you mommy, I didn't meant to give you half of it").

So anyway last night I slept like crap and had multiple dreams where every person I met handed me a tissue box and told me I looked horrible. My mom was front and center, she kept popping up in each dream to tell me I wasn't taking good enough care of myself and that snotting all over everybody wasn't very nice.

But now the day is over, and hopefully I'll sleep without dreams tonight and feel much better tomorrow....

Cars

Everybody around me is getting fancy cool new cars. Lady D picked up her Monte Carlo last year. Miss N got herself a fancy GTO. My MIL has been car shopping for the past month. I sat in and drooled over my dads Lexus while visiting them last week. And my brother... yeah well *grumble*

I've been daydreaming about the Dodge Charger for years. In a perfect and amazing world I'd get the SRT8 version and have it be a "me" color. It doesn't COME in a me color though so that's always been a little iffy.

Yesterday (due to the influx of car vibes I've been getting) I did a little online window shopping and found out that the Dodge Challenger SRT8 comes in PURPLE!! It's my car dream color. Unique and fun, a little spunky, but not flashy (like green would be). Oddly, the Charger doesn't have that color option available. Still I bet if I had enough money to get the Charger, I'd have enough to talk them into painting it purple for me...

Dubai Mall Aquarium

Someday when I'm rich (and hopefully not famous) I am definitely going to visit the Dubai Mall Aquarium. I can't imagine the Man passing it up, he has a thing for sharks. He's even threatened to go down in a cage with em someday.
