I'm a woman who has gone through an incredably amount of change the past 10 years. Life lessons piled upon life lessons. I have a little boy. I love all things girly, shiny and sparkly. I also love the outdoors, shooting, getting dirty, and testing my limits. This blog is a combination of all the facets that make up me, and hopefull, with a little luck, will be as entertaining to you as it is for me.

Fly!
Yesterday at dinner we ended up having an impromptu science lesson. I glanced out the sliding door to our patio and saw a dragon fly clinging to the roof. I know the Kiddo has never seen one of those sitting still and thought he'd get a enjoy it. He did, when the little bugger finally flew away (at least 20 minutes later) the Kiddo got a bit upset and kept asking where his friend the fly went. Finally I told him it went away to it's home so it could sleep.

Wednesday Photo Prompt (5-6)
I had a point... or maybe I didn't... do I ever?
Todays word prompt over at HSMSHS is Point: A tapered or sharp end, a projection, a dot, a place or spot, directions on the compass, the essential thing, to direct or aim.
I've got a very cool compass around here somewhere but rather then search for it (I'm lazy and odds are very very good it's buried in the storage closet) I found something else. Something sharp..

Dogs life
The little Man has been pretending he's a dog almost non stop lately. Ever since we let him watch Bolt (over and over and over for what feels like must have been a month strait). He scoots around the house on his hands and knees (ow). He barks to talk (and will argue with you, in bark speak, when you ask him to use a people word because you don't understand dog speak). He also constantly demands his food in a bowl on the floor (yeah um doesn't happen often folks).
Recently him and I built him a fort out of his cranium foam tubes. The first one we built was a house (he actually does the cubes, then I put on the tarps for him).. a house that was a bed.
The second one was a giant square play house (no picture). The third day he rebuilt the cubes and I put on a curved roof for him because my neck was starting to get a crink from sitting in these short little houses. This one isn't a people house... I've been told it's his dog house.
He wont let me take it down. Every night he asks if he can eat dinner in the dog house. Every night I tell him no. Last night I told him (since he'd finished his burger) that he could take his water and his carrot sticks in it to eat them. He was over the moon happy. I took a picture :D

Tuesday Photo Prompt (5-5)
I know I missed Mondays photo prompt, it was Mix and I'm still sorta thinking that one out.
Tuesdays photo prompt at HSMSHS was Wire: A flexible thread of metal. How do you get an attractive photo of wires! My friend had a great idea of finding a whole bunch of those colored wires with their copper ends showing but I don't have any. I didn't get out of the house yesterday either so couldn't get a picture of any birds sitting on a telephone wire. So this will have to do, all the wires involved in plugging in the phone:

Sunday S.O.S. (5-3)
I love Sundays as far as picture days go, they are SOS (show off Sundays) and you get to see the most beautiful shots over at HSMSHS and there's really no constraints on what you can post. The hardest part sometimes is picking just one. Today I'm going to go ahead and do two because... well... because I can *grin*
I've been sitting on this one for awhile. I took it and then couldn't decide if I like it or not. But I think I do so I'm keeping it.
The next set of picture (below) have a thought to go with them. You know when people ask you what your favorite season is? I always think about it and usually it's a tie between spring and fall. Then when it IS spring I remember that the majority of my feelings for this season go something along the lines of "holy criminy what the heck is up with the weather, would it just PICK a temperature already! And for crying out loud will my eyes and nose and throat ever stop itching!!" .. .. ..
But the trees flower, and the tulips open, and the grass finally starts to green up.. I suppose those are the things I remember when it isn't spring and I'm thinking about it. So ask me my favorite season right now and I'll probably say fall, ask me in two months and I'll be on the fence again.

So what's your favorite season? (Said knowing full well at least half of you are stuffy and sneezy with itchy eyes).

Saturday S.P.S. (5-2)
Okay rather then skip a day, even though I don't really have any arty self portraits (remember Saturdays are sps over at HSMSHS "someones portrait Saturday") I'm going to put up a shot of the kiddo. It's really kind of a horrible photo (quality wise) but I love it, he wanted (read as demanded) me to take a picture of him and his giraffe. He was given the stuffy a couple years ago and just recently he's named the giraffe kiki and was lugging it around for several hours playing when this photo was taken. Yep he's a full blown ham and if he has to use his Innocent stuffies as an excuse to get his photo taken he'll do it!

Friday Photo Prompt (5-1)
Oh wow, it's 11:30pm and I should be sleeping but as I finished up my posts for today and yesterdays photo prompts over at HSMSHS they posted the prompt for tomorrow (Friday). I was instantly excited and HAD to try and get my shot. I'm sure tomorrow I will see something even better (and if I do I'll shoot it and post a second time) but the photo's I got tonight are really beautiful (if I do say so myself). I got these hair pins from one of my brothers at some point years ago and have kept them safely ever since as one of my most treasured possessions.
The photo prompt word for Friday is Wing: An appendage found in pairs that enables some creatures to fly.
A closeup and a slightly further away shot. The butterfly obviously being my "wing" subject but the pictures wouldn't have been nearly as pretty without the matching piece.

Thursday photo prompt (4-30)
The photo prompt on HSMSHS on Thursday was Warning: A statement or event that indicates a possible or impending danger.
I asked the Man to hold still for me while I took his picture today before he changed after work. I'd say if you see 'em go for his sidearm you're pretty much getting the last level, big red neon flashing sign, "statement or event that indicates impending danger" warning...
The best part of it all was the Kiddo in full mimic mode.. "mommy take a picture of daddy and me"

Tuesday photo prompt 4-28
Monday Photo prompt 4-27
One day late but better late then never ;)
Mondays photo prompt over at HSMSHS was slide: To move gracefully in continuous contact with another surface, or letting an object or situation to deteriorate.
I was going to do some fun stuff with action but the Kiddo is really not letting me have the space (we're patching his eye in the morning vs evening this week as an experiment to see if he sleeps better). So anyway I went extremely literal.

hmmm thursday...
Today is going by ridiculously fast. .. .. Nothing exciting is happening, just windows wide letting in the 72 degree air and watching the Kiddo play.
Being as that is the activity for the day, and because I don't have any produce lying around, I'm using it for inspiration on today's photo prompt at HSMSHS.
Fruit: The edible part of a plant, product of labor, or one's offspring.
He's built himself a house for his race cars. I doubt it'll stand for long (he's a typical 4 year old and loves to knock things down) so I quick snapped a couple shots. The fruit of my existence AND the fruit of his labor all in one shot. The only thing missing is some actual edible fruit.

Theme'd photos..
I really kind of miss doing the daily photo prompts. I know I said (about a month ago) that I was going to try doing it again, did one day and then no more... but I think I shall try again to start again *chuckle*
Todays photo prompt (HSMSHS) is Container: An object used to hold or transport something.

Medically speaking..
I was accomplished last week.. I managed to re-arrange the Kiddos dr appointments on the 17th so that we can still do both the Eye dr and the Endocrinologist without them running into each other or needing to be rushed. PLUS I double checked to make sure our new pediatrician had all the Kiddo's medical records... when we found that she didn't I found her the name and number of the hospital the kiddo went to for his MRI three years ago, we'll get those things direct from the source. Of course if, by some random twist of fate, they don't arrive by the 17th I do have the cd still so it's covered.
I looked at it the other day to make sure it still works and man it's a little freaky with it's alien head slicing.. This image capture is his head from the front just past the eyes. Proof positive that he does indeed have a brain. I should probably hide this before he's in his teens, I don't want him to have the ammunition when we argue about him being dumb (I'm SO looking forward to the teenage years of a boy).

Tuesday Photo Prompt
Todays photo prompt over at HS/HS/MS is Travel: To go, to move, or journey from one place to another, by foot or private or public transport...
If you've been following my blog you know that the Kiddo and I recently took a trip down to AZ. We went by plane, it was his first plane trip ever and he loved it.
He's very good at understanding the things that are happening to him and expressing himself in positive ways. On the flight back here to UT we sat next to a very nice slightly older woman. She was fine until we hit the Wasatch valley at which point we had quite a bit of turbulence. And she started to get a little stressed out, I asked the Kiddo how he was doing to make sure he was okay. He smiled and laughed at me and said "the airplane is hitting speed bumps mommy" then he took his hand and had it fly through the air and bump around. He is definitely a special sort of kid.

Consume
Now that I'm back from my vacation and I've had my week to re-adjust to the stresses of normal life I figure it's about time to get back into the daily photo challange.
Mondays photo prompt word over at Her Space My Space His Space (HS/MS/HS) was Consume: To eat, drink, use up, obsess, or expend.
The Kiddo's birthday cake this year was Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and it was goooood! As usual (it's pretty much tradition at this point) he ate way to much dinner to eat any cake during the celebration so we had leftovers the next day. He gobbled the whole thing up, along with some extra yummy specially made hot cocoa his Grampi made him.

I've fallen...
and I can't get up!
Okay so maybe I can get up, I just don't WANT to. Things have been a little slow around here lately, usually I post at least once a day and I don't think I've posted anything new in about four days. Guilty *sheepish smile* So what's been going on you ask..
1. I've been working like a dog on my typing skills. Which, if I do say so myself, are not all that shabby. The problem is more my accuracy then speed. I'm at a solid 77 wpm, but only 98% accuracy, give or take. That's because my fingers work faster then my brain... er um... my brain works faster then my fingers? Anyway the typing test/interview for the job I really would love to get is this Thursday and I'm running through the alphanumeric and 10 key drill twice daily (which kinda burns me out on typing if you know what I mean).
2. I'm prepping for a wonderful glorious amazing trip to AZ in a week and I'm trying to get everything organized here so that I'll have a home to come back too vs a smoking hole in the ground. Not that I don't think the Man can handle it... sure he can... yeah... he might starve to death and then freeze when the power got shut off but he'd handle it...
3. I've been wrestling with the focus on my camera. I think I was using the manual zoom so much it messed with it's ability to auto zoom. Teach me to go playing photographer. Anyway I'm going to use that as my excuse for not keeping up with HS/MS/HS daily prompts. I'mma get back to that asap though, I miss doing it.
4. I'm running out of excuses for not having written anything in here. Lessee I should at least add that I cut my hair (which you knew) and then dyed it (which you didn't). Yes folks, that may be all the warning you're going to get before you see my glorious blu.. er um differently colored hair. Though I may be persuaded to put up a photo...
That all being said (and feeling as though I've rambled enough)... The Kiddo is great, his imagination is bigger then then universe. Last night he had to get out of bed and go see the Man so he could tell him that his voice was broken. Then the Man had to "talk him down" till he stopped worrying about it and would just go back to bed.
As an end note, speaking of imaginations, here's a funny picture or two of the Kiddo. He's using his flashlight as his rocket engine, which makes sense if you think that engines turn all fiery and glowing when they're blasting off.

Thursday Photo Prompt
The days just fly by don't they?
Todays photo prompt word over at HS/MS/HS is Belt: Encircling strip of cloth, leather etc worn around the waist.
I love belts, I have sash belts, and leather belts and metal belts... but my favorite belt out of all of them is the belt that goes to my silk kimono robe*

**That's the symbol for wind and yes, Ph, I know it's upside down..

Wednesday Photo Prompt
Radiate: A give light or heat in the form of rays.
I have a plan for this prompt, but I didn't want to lose the light (or lack there-of) while I waited to see if I could turn a photo of dust motes dancing in the sunlight into something artsy (considering my piece of crap camera). Anyway this does give light in the form of rays, multi colored ones that flash from the base up through the crystal block. It was a gift from the Man a few years ago when he got back from his trip to Kosovo. I Love you too Darlin ;)If I do end up with a decent photo of the motes, I'll add it to the bottom of this post.
