random weekend junk

... weekends stink for my readers. I don't post much on them because I'm actually out of the apartment doing things, though the things I'm doing are not usually spectacular or enviable. I tend to hope you are doing something far more exciting then what I'm doing.
My big news today is that I sold yet another Wild Things Costume!! Yes you read that right, that makes three costumes sold. I'm in awe. I now have to quick finish up the one Chance gets before Halloween...

Today we drove about and window shopped to find the kiddo some mickey ears, we'd like to go shooting more often (the man would love the practice though I think he could hit the black on a target one handed with his eyes closed). Anyway finding a sitter for the kiddo is not as easy as you'd think... sooo we're going to try (yes try) to strap him in his stroller, get his ears protected, and have one adult with him (staying FAR back) while the other adult puts lead down range. We shall see if this plan works, or if we are completely bonkers for trying.

On a big fun thing we did manage to squeeze in today (for those of you who might appreciate it) was swinging past Kohls to ogle my dream shoes. I love plaid, and I love purple and oooh they are cute! Of course everybody else apparently likes them too because they only had three pair in stock (a 10, a 6 and a 7). *sigh*

Turtle; yum, caramel!!

I was surprised, well shocked more like it, when the wild things costume I made sold so quickly. Upon consideration I guess I shouldn't be, all skills take time to learn, and not all people are willing to take the time to learn them.

The skills I covet tend to run towards the more active and outdoorsy type (shooting better then well being my current goal). And I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who would love to be able to sew but can't figure out one end of a sewing machine from the other. Or, more likely, don't CARE to. Apparently I fake it well enough that they're willing to pay to let me do it. Sweet!

All that being said, I am going to see if any of those non-sewing people want to acquire the turtle costume I made last year. The Kiddo loves to play in it but it's starting to get small and as it's still in perfect (new) condition I might as well see if I can get any extra income out of it.

Mmmm Biscuits!!

It's been a rather slow and uneventful day. I spent the majority of the morning getting the two costumes I sold packed up and ready to go. Then it was lunch time and, as it was all of 60 degrees out side, I had a hankering for something warm and comforting. I nuked up some left-overs and made them more exciting with some Red Lobster biscuits.

I stole the recipe for said biscuits from Brigids blog last week. I highly suggest going there and getting it to try for yourself. They were amazingly yummy and hit the spot nicely.

After lunch it was off to the fabric store to buy some more fleece. I'm going to knock out a couple more wild things costumes. I'll list one for sale in my geminiwinds store, and keep the other for Chance to wear for Halloween.

All in all a boring but extremely productive day.

wild thing

Nothing puts a crimp in your afternoon like having to take away sesame street privileges from a three year old because he pooped in his drawers... At some point here I'll figure out the why of his potty training issues but until then I suppose it's trial and error on a daily basis. I might have to resort to the dreaded sticker chart, seriously, stickers?? I don't think the joy of getting a sticker ever motivated me to do anything in my life. I mean, gee, woohoo, a little sticky piece of paper that doesn't even STAY sticky.

Yeah he's my little wild thing. Does things his own way in his own time always, since he was born.
He runs rampant about the house all day and apparently has cotton stuffed in his ears so he can't listen when I tell him to behave.
On the plus side he absolutely adores his costume for Halloween this year. He wants to try it on at least once a day and stomps around the house growling.
